Panel desks sit on solid panel ends rather than a metal frame. That gives a cleaner line than a cantilever leg, hides the underside of the desk from the room, and — because the panel runs to the floor — removes the leg people otherwise have to negotiate when they pull a chair in.
A radial top curves the working edge towards you, which gives more usable surface at the corner without extending the footprint. For anyone working across two screens or spreading paperwork out, that curve is the difference between a desk that works and one you fight.

The top is 25mm heat and stain resistant MFC with protective edge banding — the edge is where a desk shows its age first, and banding is what prevents it.
