A specialist workstation assessment for complex cases

The specialist computer workstation assessment is a face-to-face assessment for more complicated cases, which need deeper knowledge and experience to address the problems reported, generally musculoskeletal, in display screen equipment (DSE) work.

It is carried out by a health professional with in-depth knowledge of musculoskeletal issues and ergonomics training, or an ergonomist with specific knowledge of workstation issues. The assessor asks about the issues the user is experiencing, any relevant conditions and the work they do; observes their working posture and, where possible, adjusts the workstation during the appointment; and takes measurements and photographs. No physical examination is carried out.

Afterwards you receive a report focused on the reason for the assessment, covering the workstation, the user’s working posture, where the set up could be improved, changes made during the appointment and any further recommendations, with justifications.
